Baby Blanket for the Year
I think many people think that traditionally summer is hot and winter is cold and that is the way people plan their wardrobe and clothing. Of course we all know, particularly in Britain that the weather is unpredictable in any season. We also know that we have had very little hot weather in the summer over the last few years and definitely lots of rain!
This can make it difficult to plan when you are expecting a new baby, if you are expecting in the summer and we have a real heat wave you may find that your baby only needs to wears vests during the day and you will need very little other clothing. Of course it can be chilly in the evening and then you may need more clothing for them. If on the other hand the summer is not very warm you might need baby grows and baby blankets.
Working for a company that sells baby travel wraps amazingly the summer months are relatively quiet and although we sell very lightweight wraps. It seems that many people just don’t buy them because they seem to think they will not be needed. Being a mum myself I know that there were very few days when my babies did not need a baby blanket at all. I found that when you have your first baby, you don’t really have any restrictions on time, you can take them with you and they can sleep on the move. If we went for an evening walk or a drink in the pub garden, you would need a baby blanket with you just to keep the chill off, even if the day had been really warm.
If you can find a blanket that is lightweight, but big enough to double up it is worth having one with you all the time, you never know when you might need it. On a hot day if the sun suddenly goes behind a cloud or it gets cooler as the day goes on, you always need to be prepared.
Of course in the winter you need much more warmth and a baby blanket is essential. Travel wraps can be a great idea because they stay on the buggy all the time, which means you don’t need to remember to take something with you. If you can get a medium weight one it should be suitable for most of the year. They wrap around the baby and you can choose to have one or both sides wrapped according to the temperature, you can also choose to have the hood on or off. You might find that a travel wrap is a great alternative to a baby blanket and you might not need to get a standard blanket as well.
The most important thing is to have a blanket that is flexible and is suitable to use in most types of weather and seasons.
