Car Seat and Boot Covers

There are a wide range of car seat covers available to buy, they range from general to custom made and are designed for many different purposes.

Standard covers come as a general size and fit loosely over the seat, custom made are designed to fit your seats exactly.  You can choose from a range of padded for extra comfort, non slip which clings to most upholstered fabric. You can also have waterproof which is great for wet or muddy work, when you want to fully protect your car.  If you have animals you can also get car seat covers specifically design to protect from grit, sand and mud.

Boot liners are also a fantastic idea for lots of reasons, you can protect from pet hair and mud in the boot and if you get a quilted one it can make a great dog bed while travelling.  Box boot covers give you a protected area for keeping muddy boots in the car, while keeping the rest of the boot clear for other equipment.  One of the great discoveries I have made are boot liners that cover the whole area including the sides.  You can use them for protection while you are transporting garden or building rubbish.  You can then remove it for everyday activities. It means you don’t have to clean or vacuum each time you want to transport more messy materials.

Of course you can just use an old blanket or piece of carpet, but I don’t think they will do the job quite as well as something that is fitted.

Car seat covers are particularly great if you have a family with young children, they tend to drop food and drinks in the car.  They climb over the seats with shoes on, and often leave rubbish in the car.  No matter how often I clean out my car, it seems to get trashed in a matter of minutes and it can be really expensive to have the car valet.   It is also worth remembering that if you want to resell your car in the future, it is a good idea to keep it in good condition.

Car seat covers can be expensive, but if you get standard covers you can reuse them in your next car and they will last for a long time.  If it keeps you car clean tidying and in good condition it may make its money back when you go to resell your car.  If you are in and out of the car a lot, it can prevent wear and tear.

Car seat covers for baby seats are now available and are a really good buy, if you have had experience in trying to remove a baby seat cover and then put it back on, or wipe it down.  You will realise that it can be a total nightmare, anything to make life easier when you are a busy mother is money well spent.
