Hooded Blanket
Hooded blankets in various forms have become so popular in the last 5 years . Adults and children have a variety to choose from, not just to keep warm, but also to get dry after the bath or a swim.
Ponchos have been popular for many years but not always with hoods, when you add a hood it almost becomes like a cloak. Fantastically warm, but can be unpractical if you are trying to do anything while wearing them.
Products like the Slanket and Mooncosy have taken them to a new level. These are blankets which have arms, so you wear them when you are lazing about at home. They don’t have a hood as such, but the have a really wide collar that you can pull up over your head.
The Shmangle is another similar hooded blanket idea, it’s a normal square blanket that you can take on picnics and days out. On one of the sides it has a hood attached so if needed you can wrap the blanket round you and put the hood on, it’s a great idea for festivals or outside concerts, if it get chilly and you haven’t brought any clothes.
Hooded towels for babies were a great discovery for me; one corner of the towel has a triangle sewn into it to form a hood. They act as a normal towel to keep baby warm and dry, but also keep baby’s head warm after a bath or swimming. When children get slightly older, beach wraps are great for the same reason. I wouldn’t exactly call them hooded blankets, but they are towels which have arms and a hood. They are fantastic for the beach, swimming lessons and bath time, keeping them warm and dry. If you are using them on a beach, they can wear them while they are playing, keeping them warm and also protecting them from the sun.
Having hoods integrated into blankets is brilliant when it comes to babies and young children as quite often children are not keen to wear hats or don’t notice when they fall off. I went through so many hats and pairs of gloves when my children were young. When I used hooded blankets it was great because if they took the hood off or it fell off, we couldn’t lose it because it was attached, I also found it kept their necks warm because it was attached. It also means that you always have it with you and if it suddenly turns cold you can put it on, you don’t have to remember to bring it.
It’s worth having a look around when you are next shopping or browsing on the internet, at the variety of hooded blankets as there are many different types for all ages. They fulfil a variety of solutions to problems and make fantastic practical presents for friends and family.
