Kids Hats

Kid’s hats come in such a variety of colours and styles and can be suitable for many different purposes.  When choosing hats you need to think about when you are going to be using it and what purpose you want it to serve, cost might also come into the decision.  Children often loose hats so it is worth not spending too much money and having a backup in case one goes missing.

The most obvious reason to buy kids hats are to keep them warm, woolly hats are the traditional option and they come in a range of colours and prices.  You can also get ones that cover children’s ears which really help keep them warm.  You might also consider buying a hat, glove and scarf set that matches to keep their neck and hands warm.  More recently you can buy warm hats made out of fleece material which are very soft, they sometimes come in very bright colours.

The other reason you might be buying kids hats are for protection from the sun, the traditional sun hat is normal for girls and they sometimes have a tie, particularly for young children, so they can’t take them off.  Boys and older children sometime prefer a baseball cap, it does give protection from the sun to the face but it doesn’t cover the neck and ears.  This problem can be solved by getting a legionnaire’s hat which is like a baseball hat but with a flap of fabric round the back to cover the neck and ears.  You can also get these caps mad with UV fabric for extra protection.

Another reason you might be buying kids hats are for protection from danger.  Bike riding, scooting, roller skating and other everyday toys that kids can ride require some kind of head protection.  A standard bike helmet is usually used for this kind of activity and they can be bought from many toy and bike shops.  You children may be involved in more extreme sports such as snowboarding, rock climbing, skiing, BMX bike riding.  All of these activities require very specific head protection and people purchase these from specialist stores, they normally need fitting to make sure they are as safe as possible.

Whichever kids hats you decide to buy make sure that you are buying the correct hat for the purpose and you have considered all the options.  You may want to shop around for the best price and maybe get more than one in case one is lost.  Kids tend to really love or hate wearing hats, so it might be worth getting them to help choose the hat.  If they are not too keen, it might make them feel more encouraged to wear it if it is something they like.  If you can’t find something you like in the shops, you could consider looking online for more choice and often better prices.  But if it is a safety hat make sure you get professional advice and that it is fitted correctly for maximum safety.
