Kids Hats for all Seasons
I want to take you through the year and let you know about the range of kids hats that are available and we will start with
Spring
This is a funny time of year, you never quite know what the weather will do, you can still wear a winter hat for those chilly days, particularly babies that are lying still and have no hair will need to keep warm. You might also find that the sun is out so you may need a little sun protection in the form of a sun hat. You can get sunshades for babies that go over the pram which mean you don’t need to worry about hats.
Summer
If the weather is hot you will definitely need a sun hat, one with a large brim is great for covering ears, neck and shoulders. Baseball caps are popular for boys but they don’t give all round protection, especially with short hair. You can get legionnaires hats which have a flap round the back to protect all round. You will probably need to use sun cream as wind and sun can burn the face and probably won’t be protected enough by a hat. Kid’s hats for this time of year tend to be made of light breathable fabrics, such as cotton. You can also get UV protective fabric hats which are great for really hot weather.
Autumn
As we move into autumn you might still have the last of the summer sun to protect from, but you might need something a bit warmer maybe over your ears and you could even go for a waterproof option to protect from the rain. I have found that if you don’t buy winter kids hats quickly as soon as the weather turns really cold or the snow comes you can’t get hold of them.
Winter
For winter you need really warm hats that cover the ears and neck if possible, woollen or fleece tend to be the best materials and ones with a waterproof layer are great for rain. You can also get fake fur that lines the hat if you need to keep really warm and are out on longer winter walks or in the snow.
Some general ideas and tip for kid’s hats - For babies you might want to get a hat with ties so they can’t pull it off their heads. When the seasons change it is a good idea to pack away the hats, coats and gloves you are not using. This frees up space in the house and helps you to be able to find the things you need easily when you are going out.
There are so many kids’ hats to choose from and of course they come in different sizes, shop about and decide what you need through each season and try to keep them organised so you can always find what you need.
